Litterless Lunch

St. Peter's Catholic Secondary School is encouraging students to reduce waste by packing a litterless lunch everyday! Avoid the over-packaged food trap by steering clear of single use cartons, cans and pre-packaged snack foods.
Food like dried fruits, nuts and lots of other yummy snacks can be purchased from a bulk food store and carried in reusable containers. In addition, many foods, such as oranges, bananas and hard boiled eggs all come with their own handy compostable packaging. Permanent packaging solutions include :
- Thermoses
- Reusable water bottles
- Reusable plastic containers
- Lunch boxes
- Cloth bags
- Cloth napkins
- Reusable utensils
- and as a last resort, Recyclable packaging.
Look out for members of the St. Pete’s ECOS club who will be walking around the cafeteria at lunch, giving prize ballots for a free movie at Galaxy cinema to students who bring litterless lunches to school.
