Grade 11 Manufacturing


Students gain practical experience while learning about the dangers and hazards within a workshop. Students focus on the fundamentals of Design, Layout, and Planning skills; Fabrication, Assembly, and Finishing Skills; Technology, the Environment, and Society; Professional Practice and Career Opportunities.


Students are introduced to various hand and power tools, steel-based materials (plate and structural), processes (cutting, forming, joining), fabrication (GMAW) and finishing methods through project-based, experiential learning.

TMJ 4M Manufacturing Engineering Technology – University / College prep

This course enables students to further develop knowledge and skills related to design, process planning, control systems, project management, quality assurance, and business operations. Students will use a broad range of tools and equipment, enhance their skills in computer-aided design, and collaborate in managing a project. Students will critically analyse and solve complex problems involved in manufacturing products. Students will expand their awareness of environmental and societal issues and of career opportunities in the manufacturing industry

This is a Dual credit course that allows students to obtain their Manufacturing Specialist High skills Major (SHSM) Red Seal certification, a college welding credit, CWB certification in up to 5 welding disciplines along with the needed experience to enter university based courses. This is an application based course for entry.

Prerequisite: Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Grade 11, University/College Preparation. In some cases, Transportation Grade 11 (based on approval)
